3 Oh-No’s When Travelling Solo

Dr Seuss would be turning in his grave reading that title. He’d be thinking “By gum what kind of imbecile rhymes ‘oh no’ with ‘solo’?!” Because I would put money on Dr Seuss being the kind of man who said things like by gum and imbecile. Although to be honest who is he to judge my rhyming skills when he rhymed am with ham, two words which to me and my heavy Welsh accent sound exactly the same. We don’t pronounce our H’s. In case you’re sat there thinking to yourself “Is Dr Seuss even dead? I thought he was alive”…

5 Free Things to Do in Riga

Ever the organised little imp, while I was trawling through my drafts this weekend trying to find some half-written works of genius to finish up and post this week, I came across this little forgotten piece from my trip to Riga. I was actually 99% sure I’d already posted it but apparently not?! So here we are. When I visit somewhere new I’m not a sit back and relax kind of gal. This Year’s European Travel Wishlist

For anyone reading this from the future (or even the past, you never know when that kind of technological advancement will come into play) when I say ‘this year’ I’m actually referring to 2017. I’ve seen those same four digits popping up left right and centre so much over the last week and a bit that I don’t think my eyes register it as an actual number anymore. Here’s to Taking Chances & Not Giving A Hoot

Fear gets to us all. That’s the most intense first sentence I’ve written since I was in Year 9 English and had to write a short story about a plane crash. Being one of the only 6 people in the world who’s watched every single episode of Lost as and when it was aired, believe me when I tell you I was in my element in that class! Be it on a large or small scale, fear holds us all back in some way or another. Sometimes it’s really smack you in the face obvious. You don’t want to go on the…

Explore Your Own Backyard

Ordinarily I don’t do New Years resolutions. I already don’t drink or smoke, I’m generally quite an active person, and I’m a vegetarian with a minor intolerance to lactose so am already halfway to an MBE for services to animal welfare. Contrary to what I sometimes lead certain people to believe, my diet is balanced enough. So I sometimes eat 2 share-size bars of Dairy Milk a day – who doesn’t?! My BMI is in the average range, my blood sugar level things are fine and my blood pressure is absolutely spot-on. The only thing wrong with me from a medical standing…
